Projects in Cyprus

Boutique Residence Tower 8/11

This project is an excellent example of the fusion of modern technologies in construction and design, which allowed to create a small masterpiece in the center of the area of Neapolis, Limassol.

The project of the famous Cypriot architect Zenon Zenonos and his architectural bureau Zenonos & Zenonos Architects was implemented by the efforts of the development company Masterpiece Development and the general contractor N. Psaras Constructions Co Ltd.

The uniqueness of this project is as follows:

  • As of the end of 2021, this is the largest project built using the MULTIPOR system for external wall insulation (about 1700sqm);
  • This project was built using the advanced TDesign technology, which allows to simultaneously increase the usable area inside the building and improve the quality of the outer shell;
  • The building was insulated according to the requirements of German standards at the time of project approval (U <0.3 W/(sqm*K));
  • All three of the most popular types of finishing of external walls are simultaneously implemented: painting, decorative plaster and ventilated facades.

The project was completed in 2019−2020. Currently all apartments in this building have been sold, and the building has been put into operation.

Private House Renovation Project, Larnaca 2016

This is the first house in Cyprus, which during the reconstruction was completely insulated with the MULTIPOR system from the outside, and also partly inside the house (kitchen).

The house is located about 150m from the sea. It does not have permanent ventilation and is periodically closed for several months. Even in such conditions, which usually in Cyprus lead to the appearance of a musty smell or mold, after many years of operation, the microclimate in the house remains at a high level. A telling sign of the healthy state of the walls is that even after such a long time, the wallpaper in the bedroom was not exposed to dampness. The past years also did not have any impact on the facades of the house.

Special techniques during the execution of the work made it possible to finish part of the facades with heavy stones, glue decorative tiles on the kitchen wall, and hang heavy kitchen cabinets.

The project was implemented in the winter of 2016−2017.

Private House Project in Larnaca

This house is not technically complex or unique. But its peculiarity was that most of the house insulation work was carried out by an unprofessional worker — the future owner of the house, who usually works as an electrician.

The attentiveness and accuracy of the worker, coupled with the immutable adherence to technological requirements, led to an excellent result.

The work was performed in the winter of 2019−2020. Currently, the owner already lives in it with his family.

Villa Project in Limassol Suburb

Work on the construction of this project began in 2018. In the spring of 2019, work was carried out on thermal insulation and waterproofing of a flat roof using MULTIPOR mineral boards. In the same period, the first stage of facade insulation was carried out — gluing MULTIPOR boards to the walls with a bypass of the steel subsystem for the future installation of the ventilated facade.

A feature of this project is that since the summer of 2019 and as of the end of 2021, this project has been frozen. At the same time, MULTIPOR boards glued to the facades were left without an external protective layer. Thus, the nature of Cyprus has had a powerful effect on the insulation for several years — high temperatures and powerful UV radiation in summer, as well as winters with heavy rains and periodic frosts.

Such operating conditions cannot be considered normal. However, both the roof and the walls withstood such tests successfully, which cannot be said about the polystyrene glued in the basement. This allows you to clearly understand the difference in behavior and the ability for long-term operation of different materials in the hot and humid climate of Cyprus.

External Insulation of a Flat Roof

In this project, the main work was carried out on the external insulation of the flat roof of a private house, whose roof pie consisted of (from the inside to the outside) plaster, a 200 mm roof slab and waterproofing. This is a traditional system for houses built 8 or more years ago.

In summer, it is very hot on the top floor of such a house including at night, when the floor slab transfers the heat accumulated during a hot day to the house, and in winter, heat easily leaves the house through such an uninsulated roof.

The condition of the waterproofing was acceptable, so it was decided to leave it as a vapor barrier. In order to bring the thermal characteristics of the roof to modern requirements, insulation was carried out with 10 cm thick MULTIPOR boards. The boards were screed with concrete with a slope for drainage of rainwater. A bituminous waterproofing was installed on top of the screed with preliminary priming.

Pitched Roof Insulation Project

This project was implemented during the construction of a new chalet style house. The total area of the pitched roof exceeds 500m2. During the work, special vapor barrier membranes were used under the MULTIPOR mineral boards, as well as a rain-windproof membrane over the thermal insulation boards.

Ventilation of the space between the insulation and the tile covering is organized by selecting the thickness of the vertical battens.

Due to the fact that MULTIPOR is more resistant to heat and wind than the more common mineral wool in such cases, it is assumed that such a roof will not require repairs and will have stable thermal efficiency throughout the life of the house. The work was completed in the fall of 2020.

Ceiling Insulation for a Private House

External wall and roof insulation are preferred. But sometimes we are forced to do internal insulation for some reason. The MULTIPOR system is the best choice in this situation due to its fire and environmental safety, ease of installation and stability of thermal efficiency.

This project was carried out in a private house in the suburbs of Limassol using standard finishing with glue, putty and painting in the summer of 2020.

Internal Insulation of the House

A special feature of this project is that, at the request of the customer, the walls of the house were made in the form of polished concrete. Since concrete has practically no thermal resistance, and it cannot be insulated from the outside for aesthetic reasons, the internal insulation of a house remains the only way to insulate it.

And MULTIPOR in this case will be the best choice: fire and environmental safety, coupled with the ability to regulate the humidity in the house and ease of installation, allow you to get the desired result at an affordable price and with low operating costs in the future.

The project was implemented in the suburbs of Limassol in the spring of 2020.
