Work on the construction of this project began in 2018 and in the spring of 2019, work was carried out on thermal insulation and waterproofing of a flat roof using MULTIPOR mineral boards. In the same period of time, the first stage of facade insulation was carried out - gluing MULTIPOR mineral boards to the walls with a bypass of the steel subsystem for the future installation of the ventilated facade.
A feature of this project is that since the summer of 2019 and as of the end of 2021, this project has been frozen. At the same time, MULTIPOR boards glued to the facades are without an external protective layer. Thus, the nature of Cyprus has had a powerful effect on insulation for several years - high temperatures and powerful ultraviolet radiation in summer, as well as winters with heavy rains and even periodic frosts.
Such operating conditions, of course, cannot be considered as normal. However, it should be noted that both the roof of the building and the walls withstand such tests successfully, which cannot be said about the state of the polystyrene glued in the basement of the building. The opportunity to assess with your own eyes the difference in the condition of MULTIPOR mineral boards and traditional polystyrene insulation on this project allows you to clearly understand the difference in behavior and ability to long-term operation of different materials in hot and humid climate of Cyprus.
